…is what I’ve always said. 😅
I had no desire to push myself to the absolute limit, and 21.1 km felt like more than enough of a challenge for me.
Running has always felt a little like a conversation between my mind and my legs — one says one thing, the other says something completely different. And somehow, it’s exactly that mental battle that helps you move forward and push the boundaries of what you once thought was possible.
In many ways, it’s like any journey we choose to take in life.
After I ran the half marathon I had been working towards in September, more than one person told me that a full marathon probably wasn’t that far away anymore. I even remember sitting in a morning meeting and very confidently shutting the idea down.
A marathon? No. That’s not for me.
And I genuinely believed that.
Until sometime in the autumn, when I realised I had quietly started flirting with the idea. And at some point, I said it out loud:
If I were ever going to run my first marathon, there’s only one city where I’d want to do it.
A city with an incredible sense of power, energy and possibility. A city that simply feels fully alive.
New York. 🗽
It’s completely okay to want one thing at one point in your life and then realise, with time, that you want something different. To change your mind. Set a new goal. Take a step towards something you never planned to do before.
That’s growth. That’s progress. That’s experience.
And here I am, friends.
I’ve accepted the challenge, and I’m training for my very first marathon.
Taking what now feels like the natural next step in my own journey.
And on November 1, 2026, I’ll be running the New York City Marathon. 🗽
What will this journey look like? How am I training? What does it actually feel like to run further than 21 km for the first time? What happens on the days when everything clicks — and on the days when absolutely nothing does?
I’m taking you along for the journey.
Because in the end, it’s not only about reaching the finish line.
Every step forward counts.
Your Gazelle keeps moving forward. 🦌
